First, it is with a heavy heart that I share news of the passing of Miriam Li.

We shall miss her at GHLBC as she has been a long time member of our club.  Miriam & Josie joined the club in 1996.  Miriam was a quiet, happy lawn and carpet bowler and participated and supported many of the activities here.  Delicious treats came to our activities from Miriam’s kitchen.

We are now in Feb. with all the unpredictable weather changes.  Outside bowling has happened  when the weather permits.  Inside activities are going on strong.  Mahjong on Monday 1pm, Bridge & various games on Wednesday 10:30 am, Carpet bowling Thursday. 1pm & Sunday 1pm., Euchre on Friday at 10:30 am, and darts on Friday at 7:00pm.

I invite you to come and meet friends and enjoy our many activities.

I would like to thank Al for attending to our greens.  He will have them in good shape for a Spring start.  Spring is coming but before that we are looking forward to a St. Patrick’s Day Luncheon.  Something new.  I will let you know the details in a week or so.

A reminder to everyone !!  Gale Law has Thrifty’s cards to purchase.  This is a simple fund raiser for the club.  Call Gale for details – 250-477-7641.

We are a great club.  Now is the time to share this good news and invite friends and neighbours to come to an Open House, April 2 or 23  to see for themselves.  Give the bowls a throw and also consider croquet.  We are offering a coach and instructions to everyone interested in learning this game as well as bowling.  Talk it up.  We are never too old to learn something new.

Cheers,   Barb
