The Men’s Provincial Fours was held at our club this year and was a wonderful success.  A big thank you to all who pariticpated and volunteered their time and expertise to make the tournament such a great time for everyone.  Special thank you to Al Thomson for the upkeep and maintenance of our green, Dennis Verge (Maria and Don) for running the leader board and keeping score, Gloria and her wonderful help in the kitchen and all the others who helped out with their time and energy.

A great tournament spanning 3 days at our club, with almost perfect weather, 22 teams (12 women, 10 men) and lots of good bowling performed and watched by the spectators.

A bit shout out to all the volunteers in the kitchen (Gloria and all the volunteers in the kitchen, serving up breakfast, lunch and snacks for all the players…wonderfully done).  To Dennis Verge, the tournament convenor for organizing and preparing the whole thing…kudos. Shout out to Pete Smith for entering the scores and preparing the spreadsheets.  And to all the help from setting up the greens, the bar, the 50/50 etc… thank you to all our wonderful volunteers.

Several BSI players participated in the Provincial Fours at Juan de Fuca over the weekend with absolutely great results.  Congratulations to our bowling friends on the South Island.  The Gold Metal winners will be representing BC in the Nationals in Edmonton in August.

Congratulations to Jeff Birrell!

Jeff is a member of the Sidney and Gordon Head clubs.

Last weekend – July 13 – 15, Jeff won the Provincial Men’s Singles Championship.

To accomplish that he had to beat some of Canada’s best – including Hirendra Bahtu  and Christie Grahame.
